The finer team skill of Help Defense, Boxing Out, Setting Picks and understanding the Concept of Winning Basketball

It is important to develop solid individual skills in order to play a successful team game. To arrive at an " Elite " level of basketball skills must be taught individually. It is time to raise the basketball IQ. Improving the collective IQ of your team will make the game quick and exciting.

Learn your strong points and how to use your skills to best benefit your team. When players are confident, smart and have elite basketball skills the quality of play will be extremely high.

Learn to think like a champion!

Quality - The main focus is not on the number of drills you do, but the quality of each drill. Knowledge is power. I want everyone to understand what they are doing and how it will effect the game. This does not happen over night, but it will happen with quality instruction. Everyone has the potential to become a elite basketball player, but most will choose not to do the work. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

Understand Simple Basketball Concepts:

Practice - You will play like you practice. If you practice hard, you will play hard. When the game starts there is no need to save yourself. Give it everything you have, when you are tired take a break. Work on your conditioning so that you can play more minutes before requiring a rest. When you come in the game, your opponent should know the intensity you bring immediately.

Defense - Is always staying between you man and the basket. Accept nothing less. This simple observation makes the weakest defensive player obvious. Then you can start working to make that player or players better while the team helps them during game situations. In the end everyone benefits.

Passing - The game becomes complicated if you cannot throw and catch passes. It is one of the most important skill in the elite game. Great hands and split second timing make this game one of the greatest.

Getting Open - One of the greatest skills needed for a pass to be completed is the skill to get open to receive the pass. We can teach anyone how to get open anytime they want and anywhere on the floor.

Dribbling - everyone must be significantly above average at this skill. The better you handle the ball the more confidence you will have on the floor. Knowing when and where are the best places to dribble will increase the over all success of your team.

Protect the Ball - possession of the basketball ... you need it to score. Control the ball and you control the game. The instruction received will be detailed and easily understood. The finer points of the game come out after years of perfecting techniques.

Shooting - practicing shooting should be done with a goal. Rather than shooting 200 shots daily, your goal should be to make 100 shots. In this fashion your goal becomes makes shots not shooting them. You can become a good player shooting 200 shots, but you can become a great player making 100.

Parents - the most important person in the development of your children in all facets of life, this includes learning Elite Skills.

The parents spend more time around the children when they are practicing. This makes it essential that they know the information that we teach the children. If you practice good habits all the time you can become a great player.

Parents should understand a few things about translating what there children are saying after a game. For example, when your child says he or she did not shoot well today. You should hear, I did not practice shooting enough.

This information is normally passed down from player to family members or close friends. You are about to become a part of my extended family and my basketball experience covers 36 years!

If you learn from your mistakes you can be a good player, if you learn from everyone's mistakes you can become a great player.
